SEG U4612, U4612I and U4613 insulators encapsulation resins

For our article of the month, we are going to tell you about a family of soft encapsulation resins: U4612, U4612I and U4613 resins.

TheseSEG soft resins, are insulating resins, based on Polyurethane. They are intended for the insulation of electrical equipment, to coat fragile electronic components, engine computers or even waterproof connections.

These are liquid resins, associated with a hardener. They are called "Bi-components". Their compositions containing non-abrasive fillers (i.e. the mineral part of its composition respects sensitive electronic components) give them resistance to flame propagation for the U4612 resin (the flame does not not propagate in accordance with FMVSS302) or even self-extinguishing for U4612I (no flame, no combustion, no toxic emissions or opaque smoke.

These resins are compatible with Class B insulation systems (20000 hour resistance at 130 ° C). The main advantage of these resins is their resistance to cold (-50 ° C), as well as to heat (+ 125 ° C) and another advantage of the U4612I resin is that it is halogen-free (no chlorine derivative in the mineral filler of its composition) and that it has excellent thermal conductivity.

We still have to see the U4613 resin. The latter is a variant with characteristics similar to the U4612 resin. The only difference is the addition of a blue color dye. It will help manufacturers to differentiate several electronic components, just by the color of their encapsulating resin.

These resins are most of the time used by automotive equipment manufacturers for insulation inside electronic control boxes, giving them, in addition to electrical insulation, a perfect seal. In addition to their resistance to heat, they have excellent resistance to under hood agents (all fluids that can be found in an engine).

Even though we find these resins mainly in automotive suppliers, they can be used in other areas, such as cable wrapping.

All of this encapsulation resins are offered in containers of 1, 5, 12 and 20kg, as well as in barrels of 250kg.
