Our POLYURETHANE Resins

Our Polyurethane Resins

The different physical and chemical properties as well as the electrical characteristics make Polyurethane Resins a perfect insulator for the sectors of the electronics industry, to coat fragile elements, and of the electrotechnical industry, for the coating of medium and high transformers. low voltage, as well as capacitors.

Our Polyurethane Resins are distinguished by the following properties:

  • Low exothermicity. In equivalent proportion, an epoxy resin can reach 90 ° C or more while the polyurethane resin will not exceed 40/50 ° C.
  • Low shrinkage generally less than 1% (epoxy
  • Penetration (wettability).
  • Hanging property.
  • Self-extinguishing.
  • Thermal conductivity by adding appropriate fillers.

Health and Safety

Polyurethane Resins do not exhibit any particular character of toxicity. However, we recommend that you operate in a ventilated room and avoid any contact with the skin.

Refer to the CRAM brochure for the use of polyurethane resins. (polyols and poly-isocyanates)

Preparation of Polyurethane Resin

  • Polyurethane resins are presented as two components which react at room temperature. They are as easy to use in manual mixing as on casting machines
    automatic.
  • Optionally preheat the resin to 40 ° C to eliminate any crystallization phenomenon due to cold.
Caution: This operation may shorten the pot life of the mixture.
  • The prepolymer contains the non-abrasive fillers. Homogenize the charges by slow mechanical stirring at the bottom of the pot, in order to avoid the inclusion of air (eliminate settling of the charges).
  • Add the hardener in the proportions indicated in the table and homogenize by slow mechanical stirring, taking care to avoid air inclusions…

Implementation of the resin

Depending on the type of resin and depending on its use, it is recommended:

  • Preheat the parts (60 ° C maximum) to remove humidity and promote resin penetration by reducing viscosity.
  • Pour the resin at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.
  • In certain cases, to optimize the characteristics of the resin, the implementation can be carried out under vacuum (a few mbars).

Polymerization

  • At room temperature (23 ° C) recommended.
  • Polymerization can be accelerated by placing the parts in an oven at a maximum temperature of 60 ° C.
  • Post-hardening, in some cases after complete hardening, allows the resin to be given optimum thermal and mechanical performance. (4 to 5 hours at 90 ° C).

Caution regarding hardener

  • Due to the chemical properties of the hardener, we recommend not to leave it in contact with air for too long, because of its sensitivity to humidity, close the packaging well after use.

Storage conditions

  • From three to six months depending on the product in its original closed packaging, protected from direct sunlight, from a heat source (<25 ° C).
